Author of Striking the Match: How God is Using Ordinary People to Change the World through Short-Term Missions, George Robinson, was asked if he has seen short-term mission teams used ineffectively. He answered ‘yes’ and added:
How do we minimize the limitations and maximize the strategic nature of how to use short-term mission teams as a small part of a much bigger vision? Teams need to hear missionaries say, “We wouldn’t be taking this step in church planting if it weren’t for your team.”
I have been pondering on where exactly short-term missions has a place in the Great Commission and how it relates to the patterns in Acts. I think if churches abroad can say this to their mission teams, then both parties are on the right track to make disciples of all nations.
