How do you react when you want to share your faith and no one wants to listen?
Do you feel awkward, a little hurt, or even rejected? That kind of response is actually rather self-involved. No one is rejecting you. They are rejecting Jesus. The sovereignty of God gives us freedom from feelings of rejection. Jesus has some advice in Matthew 10:
And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. As you enter the house, greet it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. (v.11-14)
If you effectively increase the awareness of God and the gospel to someone, they become that much more responsible for their beliefs. Pray that they accept Jesus as Lord. If not, let your peace return to you for the Lord blesses and the Lord judges. Your job is to move forward in evangelism and find someone who will accept the blessings of the Lord for the glory of God’s name. God is at work so always be at work. There is no time for awkward.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
