Dealing with disappointment is never easy. But for the Christian, there is always hope because the glory of the Lord is always available to us. We just have to be willing to seek joy in Christ in all circumstances and throw away any and all idols. Sometimes, God will help you throw those idols away, however nice they may seem.
When I experience great disappointment, I am always comforted by the truths presented in this sermon by Ligon Duncan at T4G 2012 entitled “The Underestimated God: God’s ruthless, compassionate grace in the pursuit of his own glory and his ministers’ joy“.
